Sunrose California Eatery

Since it first opened this fall, this Agoura Hills restaurant has made quite a splash in the Conejo Valley culinary scene. Located in Whizin Market Square, Sunrose offers a modern twist on classic California flavors, served up in an airy, friendly atmosphere with “weekend vibes all day.” If you’re a fan of breakfast and brunch, this is a definite must-stop, as they serve brunch all day, as well as a larger menu after 10 am. Enjoy a mimosa and avocado toast any time, or dig into one of their delectable Roman-style flatbreads. The culinary team’s commitment to fresh ingredients and crafting everything they can in-house, from the salad dressings to the fresh pastries, means you can’t go wrong with any selection.

Fogo De Chão

A new addition to The Lakes at Thousand Oaks, this authentic Brazilian steakhouse is more than a restaurant — it’s an experience. Guests pay a flat, per-person price for the traditional “Churrasco Experience,” and spend the evening watching the masterful chefs grill meats of all kinds. Then, the expertly cooked meats are served tableside. The best part? It’s all you can eat, making this the perfect stop for anyone with a big appetite. In addition to the traditional churrasco option, you can also opt for one of their handcrafted entrees, which include a few vegan and gluten-free alternatives.

Slice House Thousand Oaks

Slice House

Who doesn’t love a good pizza joint? Slice House is a happy medium between fast casual and sit-down dining, serving up the artisanal work of renowned pizza chef Tony Gemignani, who won the 2007 World Champion Pizza Maker title at the World Pizza Cup in Naples, Italy. Gemignani is the owner and main culinary genius behind nearly 30 restaurants throughout Northern California and Las Vegas. Now, he’s bringing his pizza expertise to Thousand Oaks! At Slice House, you can enjoy some seriously good pizza by the slice or by the pie, available in a variety of styles to suit exactly what kind of pizza lover you might be. Maybe you’re after the perfect New York slice, or maybe you prefer the breadier Sicilian style — you can try them all here. Anyone with dietary restrictions or preferences can swap the cheese for a plant-based option, and they even offer plant-based pepperoni. If you’re in the mood for something other than pizza, you can indulge in a rich Italian pasta dish or keep it light with a fresh salad. Whichever route you go, be sure to pair your meal with Slice House’s first-ever beer, a blonde ale made for pairing with a slice of pizza, added to the menu for the first time at the Thousand Oaks location.

JOiBIRDS

Enjoy organic, plant-based goodness with this new concept from the makers of JOi Cafe in Thousand Oaks. While JOiBIRDS is billed as offering an upscale coffee and wine experience, there’s so much more here than sippable treats. The new eatery’s food and dessert menu offers a delightful variety, including waffles, muffins, quesadillas, sandwiches, and more. Gather in its airy, colorful space for a clean cup of matcha with friends or an energizing vegan lunch. JOiBIRDS is fun, casual, and open every day from 7 AM to 3 PM.

Angry Chickz

For a taste of classic southern cooking right here in California, look no further than Angry Chickz, now open in Thousand Oaks. Fans of spice and fans of chicken will love this eatery’s take on Nashville hot chicken, available at a wide range of heat levels — starting at the mild “Country” style and going all the way up to “Angry” — so you can customize your meal depending on your spice tolerance. The secret spice blend is perfectly balanced with crispy battered chicken, creating a meal that will leave your tastebuds tingling. Pair your chicken with some seasoned fries, coleslaw or mac n’ cheese, and you’re set.

La Cereza Cafe & Bakery

This family-owned casual eatery serves up a variety of fresh grab-and-go options alongside expertly crafted coffee beverages. Almost everything is made in-house, even down to the bagels and cream cheese, which are becoming a fast favorite of Thousand Oaks locals. Come by for a cup of perfectly roasted coffee and a freshly baked bagel, and enjoy it out on the airy, dog-friendly patio, or spend an afternoon inside the cafe’s charming dining room and get to know the friendly staff.

Gema Restaurant

This new bistro offers stunning California cuisine, each of the dishes crafted around seasonally-inspired flavors and featuring fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Here, you’ll find a menu that showcases the best of the state’s harvest capabilities. Indulge in fresh pasta and burgers paired with dynamic signature cocktails or a glass of wine from the wine list. Head to Gema for the perfect romantic evening for two, to celebrate a special occasion or simply to enjoy an elevated meal.

Twisted Meats

Named for the way their kebabs are cooked, Twisted Meats specializes in German Döner Kebab, served in wraps, sandwiches, salads, rice bowls or with fries. The kebab meat is cooked on a vertical rotisserie called a “Dönergrill,” and this cooking method allows for the meat to crisp up perfectly while leaving the inside tender and flavorful. Every bite is a burst of authentic German flavor, sure to leave you planning your next visit as soon as you leave.
