An easy 45-minute drive from Los Angeles, Conejo Valley offers all of the fun yet none of the crowds. Here’s why your next perfect getaway awaits in the heart of Southern California:
Conejo Valley is home to unique drink and dining experiences. From the iconic Original Pizza Cookery, which is famous for its hand-made garlic and cheese rolls, to The Old Place, a historic restaurant featuring food cooked over a fire in an intimate setting, Conejo Valley has it all.
Up for a foodie challenge? Head to The Park Restaurant and Bar for a 2 lb. “Tomahawk” steak or devour a Hogzilla, a half pig’s head on a platter at Twisted Oak Tavern.
There are also plenty of noteworthy spots to wash down your meal. Ladyface Ale Companie is one of Los Angeles County’s first revival craft breweries featuring award-winning, hand-crafted ales and delicious French-inspired cuisine. Craft-cocktail bar Oak & Iron is known for its speakeasy vibe serving an elevated experience for guests.
With nearly 12,000 acres of open space, Conejo Valley is the perfect destination for active outdoor enthusiasts. Soak in the majestic views as you explore 140 miles of trails by hiking through idyllic nature preserves or bike through the canyons to the ocean.
You can’t take a trip to Conejo Valley without visiting the nearby Malibu Wine Safaris where you can discover the beautiful wines of the Santa Monica Mountains while mingling with exotic animals. Get up close and personal with zebras, camels, alpacas, bison and even Stanley the Giraffe.
One of our hidden gems, the Conejo Valley Botanic Garden, is 33 acres of natural terrain encircled by the City of Thousand Oaks. Enjoy the sweeping vistas at the peak of the garden, 15 breathtaking specialty gardens or hike the trail along the riparian stream.
History buffs will love The Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum, one of Southern California’s most unique and beautiful attractions. Walk onboard President Reagan’s actual Air Force One, which flew seven other presidents in its lifetime. Take a selfie with the White House Oval Office replica in the background or stroll through the grounds that include a similar White House Rose Garden and South Lawn.
Another fascinating site to see is The Stagecoach Inn Museum. Originally known as the
Grand Union Hotel, it was used as a resting area for people who traveled from Los Angeles to Santa Barbara. It’s now a California Historical Landmark and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The museum includes a replica of Timber School (originally built in 1889), a carriage house, a blacksmith shop, a nature trail, and the ‘Tri-Village,’ a small group of three houses including the Pioneer House, the Adobe and the Chumash Village.
Before you head back to work, make sure to indulge in fine self-care and get a spa treatment. Try unique salt therapy at Halo Salt Spa, or rejuvenate with cryotherapy at Mamba Sports Academy. Take it a step further with goat yoga practice at Lavenderwood Farm. As you follow the instructor through the gentle asanas, cute Nigerian dwarf goats run around asking for your attention. At the end of your practice, you’ll be overloaded with joy and social media content for days!
