Soulful blues singer and guitarist Ron Artis II and his band, The Truth, will perform at the Stagecoach Inn Museum on Friday, October 21, 2022 at 7:00pm. His performance is part of the TOArts After Dark Series.
Artis moved to Oahu, Hawaii with his family when he was only four years old. He is one of eleven children, all of whom grew up immersed in a creative and religious household led by his musically gifted parents.
While developing his multi-instrumental prowess playing in the Artis Family Band, Artis quickly took to piano and guitar as his main modes of expression. His mastery of both, in addition to numerous other instruments, quickly made evident that he was special. As he got older and played around Oahu, others quickly recognized his gift. Mick Fleetwood, Jack Johnson and Jake Shimabukuro, all encouraged him, and he has gone on to play with all of them as well as with his own band (featuring brother Stevon on drums) aptly called The Truth.
Artis has played sell out shows from coast to coast with his long list of collaborators. His debut album “Soul Street” dropped in early April 2020 and had garnered wide critical praise. The album crystalizes the full range of Artis’ influences, deep Delta blues, gospel, Northern soul and R & B, alongside in-depth and personal lyrics.
Concert takes place outdoors on the lawn of Stagecoach Inn Museum. You are welcome to bring your own chair, food and beverages.
