Make Memories This Fall in Conejo Valley

Posted on October 15, 2016 by Conejo Valley

The kids may be back in school, but there’s still fun to be had in Conejo Valley. Build your family’s bond with epic history lessons or some real-life horseback fun. It’s fall, and guess what? You picked the BEST time of year to come. The sun is softer, the nights are breezier and the outdoors is calling your name.

To make it easy on you, here are two fun ways to experience Conejo Valley.

DAY ONE – Gardens & Trails

After you’ve had your fill of coffee and brunch, head out into the morning sunshine for a self-guided tour of Gardens of the World. From French to American Bandstand, give yourself a world’s eye view of classic gardens from the world over. You can even experience an authentic Mission Courtyard, a style native to California.

Refuel with lunch – head down the road to Rhineland Deli. Rustic sandwiches and German potato salad are on the menu. Reward the kids for their good behavior at the Gardens of the World with a post-lunch treat – German cookies and pastries.

Now, get ready to turn things up a notch. Grab your boots and take the family to Rocking K Horse Rentals and experience the open-trail life. No experience is necessary; the guides at Rocking K will lead you from start to finish.

DAY TWO – History & Shopping

The election for America’s next President is looming large this fall, but instead of falling into the latest candidate buzz, take a step back and journey through the halls of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library. Explore the inside of Air Force One, which served nearly three decades of American presidents. Step into the Oval Office, a full-size replica of the one President Reagan used while in office. Relive memories of the Gipper himself and his love of country. (Plan to give yourself two and a half to three hours to tour all the exhibits.)

Next up, pick your location of choice for an afternoon of shopping and entertainment.

Head to The Promenade at Westlake for a nice variety of fresh lunch options, including three grill-style restaurants. Afterward, walk the Promenade, which is home to shops like Vince, Joie (coming this Fall!) and Sur la Table.  Bonus: they often have live music and events in the evenings.

Or, cruise over to The Lakes at Thousand Oaks for a shopping scene centered on a manicured lake and garden. You’ll find stores like Tommy Bahama and Sunlife Organics and a regular events list including live entertainment on Friday nights through the end of the year.

If you’re not ready to call it a night, drive over to Malibu beach for a late afternoon, early evening beach walk. The sand is usually warm, and the sunsets rarely disappoint.

As always, we aim to please. Book your hotel with a few clicks, using the box in the upper right-hand corner.

We’ll see you this fall!
