The powerful duo The War & Treaty bring their Motown spirit, country soul and classic rock-n-roll heart to the Scherr Forum on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at 7:00pm.
The War and Treaty has amassed a following as eclectic as the band’s sound itself: a joyful fusion of Southern soul, blues, gospel, country, and rock ‘n’ roll. With performances of nearly revival-like intensity, the husband-and-wife team of Michael Trotter Jr. and Tanya Trotter are known for creating an exhilarating exchange of energy with audiences from coast to coast.
Originally formed in Michigan in 2014 as Trotter and Blount, Trotter was an Iraqi War veteran, and Blount was a long-time solo performer and actress. Combining forces, they arguably became something greater than the sum of their parts, endearing themselves to audiences across the music world.
The versatile duo has opened for artists such as Al Green, Brandi Carlile, Jason Isbell, John Legend and Lauren Daigle while their multifaceted collaborative efforts include Dierks Bentley, Elvis Costello, Emmylou Harris, Leslie Jordan, Mumford & Sons, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and Sturgill Simpson. The 2021 International Folk Music Awards “Artist of the Year” an Americana Music Association’s 2019 “Emerging Artist of the Year” they continue to reveal new headlining dates and will serve as direct support for Van Morrison ahead of their overseas trek this summer to Australia, Denmark, Ireland, Netherlands, United Kingdom and Scotland.
