Posted on August 28, 2019 by Conejo Valley

Back-to-school season isn’t just for kids. It serves as a reminder of how learning is a lifelong pursuit, and a joy! Good thing Conejo Valley has an abundance of attractions that are as educational as they are fun. Here are a few of our favorites:

Marvelous Museums

Modern points of view, or classic takes – Conejo Valley museums have it all.

Explore the California Museum of Art Thousand Oaks for fresh, rotating exhibitions meant to ignite conversation and connection. With artist lectures and year-round educational programs, this museum is made to create meaningful engagement with art.

For a multi-disciplinary display of fine art, visit the William Rolland Gallery of Fine Art. From exhibitions of current working artists to contemporary masters like Picasso, this gallery has all the modern wonders.

Ready to gas up your learning experience with more of a how-things-work approach? The nearby California Oil Museum has all the turn-of-the-century marvels that brought gas to early California car drivers. With models, games, and interactive displays, you’ll emerge with a better appreciation for how far we’ve come!

For a unique museum experience with stunning mountaintop views, visit the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum. In addition to the memorial site, the institution allows visitors to step aboard and tour through President Reagan’s actual Air Force One, and view a replica of the White House Oval Office.

Botanical Bliss

This is Southern California after all, so why not learn something while enjoying the beautiful weather? Conejo Valley offers many opportunities to interact with nature. Take a tour of The Conejo Valley Botanic Garden. Or explore the various cultures of the world in our own “backyard” at Gardens of the World.

And for a truly breathtaking stroll, venture out to neighboring Malibu to The Getty Villa. The attraction was built in the 1970s, and modeled after a first-century Roman country house, the Villa dei Papiri in Herculaneum, Italy.

Culture Club

Concerts, plays, and comedy, oh my! Conejo Valley has it all when it comes to arts and culture. A hidden gem for performing arts, our region is home to playhouses like 5-Star Theatricals and Conejo Players Theatre, which have dramatic productions as well as musical theatre.

For concerts, ballet, award-winning musicals and stand-up comedy, Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza is the place to be. In true Conejo Valley fashion, this architectural beauty is juxtaposed by pastoral meadow vistas.
