13 Things We Are Thankful For In Conejo Valley

Posted on November 22, 2016 by Conejo Valley

In the gorgeous and vast Conejo Valley, there’s no shortage of things to be thankful for; but this Thanksgiving, we’d like to give a shout out to just small sampling of businesses, locations and activities we are happy to have at our fingertips at any given moment. This is by no means a definitive list, we could go on and on about local people and places we love, but we’ll get this list started and you can tell us what you love!

 1. Local Brewers
Our local brewers are putting Conejo Valley on the map for beer lovers! With spots like Five Threads, Westlake Brewing Company, Figueroa Mountain, The Dudes, LadyFace and more, there’s never a brew that we can’t find. The people are pretty great, too!

2. Conejo Valley Wine Trail
Who needs to travel all the way to Napa when we have our own wine trail right here in Conejo Valley? Cheers to weekend wine trips in our own backyard!

3. Zuma Beach
When you live in a region with an average 347 days of sunshine per year, a beach is somewhat of a necessity. Fortunately for us, we’ve got Zuma beach right over the hills!

4. Backbone Trail
We are so excited that Backbone Trail is finally open after 40 years of waiting! This trail connects two counties across hundreds of miles of trails, and we can’t wait to explore it all.

5. Wildwood Park
Wildwood Park is one of our favorite places to go for a relaxing, scenic hike. We will never tire of trekking to Paradise Falls and jumping in the water on a warm day.

6. Paramount Ranch
We have the opportunity to catch a glimpse at Hollywood every now and then with shows and movies being filmed in our neck of the woods, and Paramount Ranch is a frequent filming location! Not only is it a really cool old western layout that’s fun to explore, but shows like HBO’s Westworld are filmed here too!

7. Thousand Oaks Botanic GardensFrom the sweeping vistas at the peak of the Garden through fifteen unique, hillside specialty gardens, and onto the hiking trail along the stream, the Conejo Valley Botanic Garden is a destination not to be missed!

8. Gardens of the World
Where else can you find a cultivated garden designed as if you are traveling the world in one place? At Gardens of the World, you can travel from an American bandstand to a British rose garden to a Japanese Pagoda all in one stroll.

9. Ronald Reagan Presidential Library
Anytime we want a great museum day, we get to head out to Ronald Reagan Presidential Library. This place is full of greatness, has rotating exhibits, and you can even board Airforce One in all its Reagan glory.

10. Pedego 101 Electric Bikes
Have you ever tried riding through canyons like ours on a regular bicycle? If that’s your thing, we are in awe of your stamina! We, on the other hand, are thankful that Pedego 101 is there for us when we want to bike the hills and take in the views, but just can’t find the strength in our legs.

11. Golf Courses
Who likes to golf? We do! That’s why we are happy to be home to about seven courses for every level of experience.

12. Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza
The Civic Arts Plaza always gives us a reason to get out and see a show. Whether it’s a community event or a big name star, we know we’ll be entertained at the Civic Arts Plaza!

13. Photo Worthy Sunsets
It’s always nice to finish the day off with award worthy sunsets, and Conejo Valley has no shortage of them. Our phones are loaded with photos of the sun passing behind the hills.

With the holidays near, we are working on putting together an interactive map of all the best places to see holiday lights! Whether your favorite place to see sparkly lights is on a house, boat or business, tell us all about it!
