Experience Life at the Ronald Reagan Library Pompeii & Museum

Posted on September 26, 2018 by Conejo Valley

If you haven’t been to the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum yet, now is a great time to check it off your travel bucket list. Whether you’re visiting Conejo Valley for the first time or you are a local looking for something new to see, the presidential library and museum is a special place – full of history, inspiration and information on the nation’s 40thpresident.

The special exhibits at the museum are another spectacular reason to visit. The museum regularly features unique exhibits that are worthy of a trip on their own, and the newest one is no exception. Beginning October 6, “Pompeii: The Exhibition” will be on display, and will run through April 2019.

This awe-inspiring exhibit will bring visitors back in time to the fateful eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 A.D., which covered the busy city of Pompeii and all its residents in volcanic ash, abruptly halting life as they knew it.

As archaeologists uncovered the remains of Pompeii and its people, they found that much of the site was frozen in time, preserved beneath layers of ash. Almost 200 authentic artifacts will be on display at “Pompeii” more than 2,000 years after they were buried. The exhibit will showcase everything from sculptures and frescoes to jewelry and ancient coins, and even full body casts and gladiator helmets. There will also be a simulated 4-D theater experience that allows visitors to see what it may have been like to witness the eruption of Mount Vesuvius.

This exhibit is appropriate for the whole family, and the library expects it to be very popular, so consider pre-purchasing your tickets now, and get to work planning the rest of your trip to Conejo Valley!
